The Great Prajna-Paramita Heart Sutra
When the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara was practicing the profound Prajna-Paramita, he perceived that all five aggregates are empty, thereby transcending all suffering and distress.
Sariputra,
Form is not different from emptiness, and emptiness is not different from form. Form itself is emptiness, and emptiness itself is form. The same applies to sensation, perception, volition, and consciousness.
Sariputra,
All phenomena are marked with emptiness: they are neither born nor destroyed, neither stained nor pure, neither increasing nor decreasing. Therefore, in emptiness, there is no form, no sensation, no perception, no volition, no consciousness; no eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, or mind; no color, sound, smell, taste, touch, or phenomena; no realm of the eyes, up to no realm of the mind-consciousness.
There is no ignorance, nor extinction of ignorance, up to no aging and death, nor extinction of aging and death. There is no suffering, no cause of suffering, no cessation of suffering, and no path. There is no wisdom, and there is no attainment with nothing to attain.
Because bodhisattvas rely on Prajna-Paramita, their minds are without hindrance. Because there is no hindrance, they are without fear. Far from all delusions, they reach ultimate nirvana.
All past, present, and future Buddhas rely on Prajna-Paramita and thereby attain Anuttara Samyak Sambodhi (supreme enlightenment).
Therefore, know that Prajna-Paramita is the great mantra, the mantra of great wisdom, the unsurpassed mantra, the unequaled mantra, capable of alleviating all suffering, true and not false.
Thus, the Prajna-Paramita mantra is proclaimed:
